Workshops

The one you want
in the room when
the stakes are high.

I am a force multiplier for senior executives. Leadership teams engage me at critical moments when they need to align around shared direction and commit to action. Through one-on-one pre-workshop conversations with every key stakeholder, I design a session tailored to your team. In the room, we align on who you are, who you need to become to win, and how to get there together.

Illuminate forward.

"I have always been skeptical of offsites. This one was different." "We aligned around something more powerful — shared purpose and identity." "The SLT Charter is something I am going to take to my leadership team." "What I appreciated most is how Billy translates big-picture leadership challenges into clear, practical next steps." "Billy is a force multiplier for senior leaders, ensuring the right voices are included at the right times and that vision is translated into meaningful, executable plans. He is the kind of partner you want in the room when the stakes are high and the path forward is unclear."

The answers are
in the room.

I do not teach your team what to think. I design a session that surfaces what they think. We align on where we want to go, where we are, why it is critical to go on the journey, and how to engage our teams to build a roadmap that moves the organization from here to there.

Before the workshop

Prior to the workshop, I spend an hour with each key stakeholder who will be in the room, up to ten people. I build trust, align on purpose, and co-develop the approach. These conversations ensure the workshop is shaped by your team and each person enters the room with clarity.

In the workshop

During the workshop, I want everyone engaging with an interdependent mindset. Every voice matters because we are shaping something that everyone owns. The path forward lies within the group and my proprietary approach enables the team to discover it together.

"I have always been skeptical of offsites. They rarely move the needle. This one was different. We didn't just align on to-do lists. We aligned around something more powerful — shared purpose and identity. And we left with real commitments to each other for the journey ahead."

In practice

A leadership team aligned around who they needed to become.

A real engagement. Details generalized to protect confidentiality.

The situation

A new CTO stepped into the role knowing that his organization was at an inflection point. We did a Yellow Pad Session together and it quickly became clear that something had to shift in how the team viewed itself and how it was being viewed and treated by the enterprise. We began by facilitating a workshop with his senior leadership team.

The preparation

Before the workshop, I met individually with each of his direct reports. I built trust, understood their perspectives, and surfaced tensions. I also gathered input on what we needed to achieve, the challenges to getting there, and how to overcome them. My approach is not prescriptive; it's grounded in building aligned understanding and momentum. By the time we entered the room, I had a clear picture of the team and a session designed specifically around them.

The workshop

We spent the day surfacing alignment around four questions: Where are we now? Where do we need to go? Why is it critical we make this journey? And how will we approach getting there together? The team did not just discuss these questions; they built answers they owned. By the end of the day, they had aligned around a shared commitment for how to move forward and around a shared vision: to move from being seen as an execution center to becoming a force multiplier, strategic thought partner, and innovation center for the broader organization and their clients.

The outcome

A leadership team aligned around who they are now, who they need to become, and why the work is critical. A shared set of commitments for how they will show up during the journey and an agreement on how to lead their 1,500-person organization through the transformation.

Force multiplier
for senior executives.

I am a force multiplier for senior executives. Leaders, organizations, and leadership teams engage me at critical moments when the path forward is unclear and they have to get it right.

The answer is within you. We discover who you need to become to win, design the roadmap together, and activate it. When you do, you operate with clarity, confidence, calm, and curiosity — and income, revenue, and profit multiply.

Before launching Northlyght, I built teams, led turnarounds, managed P&Ls, and guided Fortune 1000 executives and their organizations through transformations. I know what it takes to not just design a path forward, but to walk it.

My work is also shaped by The Institute for Wisdom and Wonder, an exploration of how companies can leverage what is uniquely human in a world where knowledge and execution are becoming commodities.

I hold an MBA from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management. I currently serve as President of the Kellogg Alumni Club of Atlanta and Co-Chair of The Atlanta Speaker Series.

My wife, Yen Ling, and I have three daughters. I love a good discussion with you about you, 1930s-50s baseball cards, fall at the beach or in the mountains, weekends in NYC with Yen Ling, and watching my daughters shine.

Your questions,
answered.

When is the right time to bring in a Northlyght workshop?
When the work is critical and you cannot afford a workshop that does not move the needle. Common entry points include a new leader stepping in who needs to align the team around a shared direction, a leadership team that has been misaligned or operating in silos, a critical strategic decision that requires buy-in before moving forward, or a moment when the organization needs to get clear on who it is, where it is going, and why the work matters.
What makes a Northlyght workshop different?
Most facilitators arrive with a methodology built for someone else. Before I enter the room, I have already met one-on-one with every key stakeholder to build trust, align on purpose, and shape the session around your team. The session is designed around you — not a template — and every person in the room enters with clarity on why we are there.
What does the team leave with?
Alignment around where the team is now, where it needs to go, why the work is critical, and how it will approach getting there together. For some teams that includes a set of guiding principles or a leadership charter. For others it is a clear shared vision and a commitment to engage the broader organization in designing the path forward. The output is always built by the team, not presented to them.
How does pricing work?
Workshop engagements are scoped based on the size of the team, the complexity of the work, and the scope of pre-workshop preparation. The right first step is a discovery conversation. Workshops are typically funded through an L&D, HR, or similar budget.
